OUR TECHNOLOGY IS THE ADVANTAGE
We don’t ask OEMs to believe in a concept. We show them what our architecture can do better. Our patented Dual Rotor, Radial Flux motor technology has been extensively validated and integrated into real vehicles together with industry partners. Compared with a conventional permanent-magnet synchronous motor at equivalent performance, it already delivers:
- 25% lower energy consumption today (15 vs 20 Wh/km) – with a further step to 10 Wh/km on our roadmap
- 25% lower weight
- 70% less laminated steel
- Up to 50% fewer production process steps
Its architecture also creates a fundamentally different material footprint compared with a conventional permanent-magnet synchronous motor at equivalent performance:
- 30% less magnet material
- 50% less copper
- 70% less iron
These advantages are not the result of incremental optimisation around an existing motor architecture. They come directly from the physics of our Dual Rotor technology. That creates significant potential for cost, efficiency and resource savings at automotive scale – and it is the single biggest reason OEMs come to us in the first place.
QUALIFIED AS AN OEM SUPPLIER
Our readiness goes beyond the product itself. We hold all the relevant automotive certifications, and we’ve successfully passed VDA 6.3 series supplier audits with major OEMs. We are already approved as a supplier by OEMs today. We got rated green on an OEMs own supplier scorecard – the same bar a large-scale supplier has to clear to be considered for a series award. In other words: we are not preparing to become nomination-ready someday. We are ready to compete for series business now.
BUILT FOR SERIES PRODUCTION FROM DAY ONE
We never designed DeepDrive as a research project that would eventually have to figure out industrialisation. Industrialisation has been part of the company from the very first day. One of our earliest hires was a quality assurance specialist – a clear reflection of how seriously we have treated series readiness from the outset. Our founding team and a large share of our employees come directly from the automotive and semiconductor industries, with experience in large-scale series programmes at companies including Bosch, Audi and Infineon. Dr.-Ing. Alexander Rosen, Co-Founder and Chief Engineer, previously worked on e-drive design activities at Bosch and conducted wheel hub motor research at the Fraunhofer Institute. Stefan Ender has managed major electrification projects at Bosch and Audi. That depth runs across the whole organisation, not just the founders. Tomasz Skrzynski, our Quality Management Lead, joined from Webasto with more than 15 years of industry experience. Bruno Gottschling brings 20 years of purchasing experience, including his time at Formula 1. Michael Sommer leads industrialisation with almost 10 years of industry experience at Audi. This shows: for us, quality, manufacturability and scalability are not later-stage additions. They are core product requirements.
RECOGNISED EARLY BY INDUSTRY LEADERS
Some of the automotive industry’s most experienced companies and leaders recognised our potential early: Strategic investors including BMW i Ventures and Aumovio have backed the company, bringing not only capital but also deep industry expertise and opportunities for cooperation. That support is an important signal: established automotive players have evaluated both the technology and the team – and chosen to become part of the journey. We are also supported by highly experienced industry leaders including Dr Peter Mertens, former board member at Audi and Volvo, and Peter Hochholdinger, former Global Head of Production at Tesla and Lucid Motors. After joining DeepDrive, Peter Hochholdinger summarised what stood out to him: „The team didn’t just build an exceptional product, they built it from day one with scalable industrialisation in mind.“ That distinction matters. A great prototype can attract attention. A great product designed for industrial scale can transform an industry.

Building a world-class automotive technology company does not mean recreating every capability the industry has developed over the past century. It means knowing exactly where you create unique value – and partnering with the best where others have already built exceptional expertise. As a greenfield company, we have the advantage of designing our processes, supply chain and manufacturing strategy specifically around our technology, without carrying forward decades of legacy complexity. At the same time, we deliberately work with some of the strongest partners in the industry. Especially in the beginning the Fraunhofer Institute contributed decades of research expertise in wheel hub motors and advanced manufacturing technologies. Aumovio, formerly Continental Automotive, is combining its braking technology with our motor technology in a highly integrated drive-brake unit. These partnerships allow every party to focus on what it does best – and accelerate the path towards outstanding products at industrial scale.
